Virginia Law States:

You - the consumer, have the right to choose the glass shop of your choice.  However, many insurance companies and large nationally owned glass company networks will try to tell you that you have no choice. This is RUBBISH! Virginia law states the following . . .

Section 38.2-517 Unfair settlement practices, replacement and repair penalty - No person shall:

Require an insured or claimant to utilize designated replacement or repair facilities or services, or the products of designated manufacturers, as a prerequisite to settling or paying any claims arising under a policy or policies of insurance; or
Engage in any act of coercion or intimidation causing or intended to cause an insured or claimant to utilize designated repair facilities or services, or the products of designated manufacturers, in connection with settling or paying any claim arising under policy or policies of insurance.

Please Note: What this law says is that no insurance company or glass network can dictate who you decide to take your car to for repairs. Many insurance companies will use tactics like "they are not on our list", or "we deal with the following companies". It doesn't matter who they deal with - what matters is who do you want to deal with!

Many insurance companies have turned their nose up at this law.
Now, a new addendum to this legislation has just been
passed which will impose heavy fines on those insurance companies
who wish to continue to show their arrogant contempt for our laws.
If our State government considers this serious . . . shouldn't you?
